Just as you 'inherited' that '63 Chevy, I inherited it's successor, a bright red 1969 Chevy Impala with an AM radio and windows for climate control. It, too, saw many a four of beef before I took possession of her as a wedding present in 1976. It took a while for the faint smell of meat to fade away, but she served me well until I could afford my first used car. Ah, yes, I remember it well.
OMG brother! For some reason, I cannot summon that red Impala to mind. I know I must have driven it when I visited Cleveland during college, and then of course I never came back to Cleveland. What was the car they got next? Was it the one mom had until she could no longer drive?
I seem to remember her having a pale green Plymouth K-Car. I don't remember if that was right after the Impala, but it was the last car she drove until she could drive more..
Great recap of car history! So many are no longer being made. Ah but the memories (for those of us old enough to have them). And Eric Boehlert is a great loss to the writing world.

Thank you, Art, for another great edition of RR. I got a little weepy and I got a little righteous and I got a little hope. What more can I hope for?
